Don't trust a firewall?

Frank Derfler of PC Magazine has written an article about the network security products being displayed at the NetWorld+Interop trade show in Atlanta. It makes comments that "Firewalls are dinosaurs!", and seems a little MS based, but it also mentions the emerging plethora of VPN and IPSec products becoming available.
