LSAP discussion over redundant password fields in /etc/passwdAn interesting discussion is currently taking place on the LSAP mailing lists regarding the potential use of the encrypted password field. (The field is currently made redundant by the shadow passwords suite). Several alternative programming and securing mechanisms are being thought over.
