AMD Sledgehammer (64-bit CPU) PreviewIn October of 1999 AMD officially threw its hat into the 64-bit processor ring.Flying in the face of Intel and their IA-64 project with HP, AMD has decided to develop their own 64-bit capable processor. The chip is code-named “Sledgehammer,” and hopefully this chip will be the marketing and processing weapon that its name implies
