Debian has chosen its new logo. A contest held by the GIMP Contest Sitearchive.org introduced a challenge to linux artists: Create a new logo for the Debian Project.

After several months and 509 votes from Debian developers, the entry created by Raul M. Silva of onShore, Inc. was chosen. His logo, called the Debian "Swirl", by some, is now the official logo, and can be found at the Debian Sitearchive.org. Information regarding the logo itself can be found at http://www.debian.org/logosarchive.org.

For his efforts, Raul won a debian.org email address, and a CD of the latest Debian distribution.
