XFree86 4.0.1 is released. Version 4.0.1 of the XFree86 implementation of the X Window System is now available. New features of XFree86 4.0.1 include integrated DRI driver support, Linux/Sparc support, a new graphical configuration tool, and several bugfixes. Tuesday Linux beats Windows 2000 in benchmarks. In the SPECweb99 benchmark, Linux beat Windows 2000 in Web-serving performance by a factor of almost 3. The Linux machine was running Red Hat Linux 6.2 with the Tux Web server being developed by developers at Red Hat. Wednesday SteelEye ships Linux software. SteelEye Technology now supports Linux with its LifeKeeper high-availability software. LifeKeeper 3.0 for Linux provides clustering support for up to 16 Linux servers for use in stored storage environments. Thursday Loki ships PowerPlant developer tool.
