MySQL, one of the most popular database servers for Linux, is released under the GNU GPL, making it a welcome addition to the list of open source database servers. MySQL makes a strategic alliance with VA Linux Systems, whereby MySQL is released under the GPL and is provided at VA's SourceForge open source development center.
