Next Unreal Engine May Not Be Ported.

Blue's News is reporting that Epic's Brandon "GreenMarine" Reinhart has stated that Epic's next Unreal Engine will feature only Direct3d support, no OpenGL or Glide. Does this mean we won't be seeing a Linux port? Click the topic for more.

Although the Direct3d API is not available on Linux the game still might be ported. If Epic chooses to stick with this they will lose the Linux and MacOS audience, which can't be a good thing. Perhaps the company will choose the way of a 3rd party porter such as Loki Entertainment who were the first company to do a complete Direct3D to OpenGL port with their recent release of Heavy Gear 2. I'm sure as soon as this news begins to swim the internet Epic will make clear their objectives.
