Red Hat Is Not Linux!

A new community site has been launched, redhatisnotlinux.org, whose goal is to dispell the myth that Red Hat is synonymous with Linux.

Red Hat, the makers of the Red Hat Linux distribution, currently has the highest market share of any Linux distribution. This situation causes Linux users, especially corporate users, to expect that Red Hat is synonymous with Linux. The unfortunate effect of such a view is that companies porting their applications to Linux will only think about supporting Red Hat.

The site redhatisnotlinux.org was launched today to increase awareness for other Linux distributions. The creator of the site, Gavin Roy, puts the problem rather bluntly, saying "supporting Red Hat only doesn't help us who don't use Red Hat."
