PlanetQuake has posted today's TechTips on building your own neighborhood or LAN game server. It gives some good advice on what hardware is necessary, and how you can save alot of money. The article is focused around the hardware aspect and barely mentions software/OS. It's a good read if you've got some spare parts and a linux CD laying around.
