Montezuma submitted a perl script to LinuxQuake. The goal of this script is to make the hassle of installing new Q3a maps and editing the .arena file (to be able to see the map in the menu) as fast as possible. The beauty of this script is it can also process a directory full of zipped maps at once, and use the defaults you entered for the .arena files. You can download the script here.
