Linux.com Exclusive: Aureal Inc. Releases Linux Drivers
Linux.com is proud to announce exclusively the first public release of Aureal's Linux drivers for their entire line of Vortex chipsets. Having been in private beta testing for some time, this new driver build features support for basic audio functionality, including: full duplex PCM playback and record, multiple audio channels, analog joystick and MPU-401 support, and OSS compatibility.
While this version of drivers is mostly binary, source code is provided for the OSS API implementation and some interfaces with the kernel. Aureal is committed to providing Linux users with a stable driver package, and support of the Open Source principle in the near future.
Aureal will be represented at the LinuxWorld Expo next month, where we expect to hear even more about their Linux strategy. In the meantime, be sure to check back with us regularly for updates. Now head on over to Aureal's new Linux site: http://linux.aureal.com and grab those drivers!
