TurboLinux Partners with NEC on Enterprise Linux Support
TurboLinux announced today a technical and support partnership program with NEC Corporation, Japan's number one server company.
"As the leading enterprise server vender, we strongly believe there is a need to provide support to the customers of Asia's number one Linux vendor, TurboLinux," said Takayuki Okada, NEC's chief manager, computer software operations unit. "This is a natural step as more businesses seriously consider using Linux in their mission critical systems."
"This partnership agreement with Japan's top hardware vendor is significant in many ways for TurboLinux," said Kuniteru Kojima, president of TurboLinux Japan. "Our strong technical engineering and support in Japan are critical to the success of Linux in the enterprise for hardware vendors such as NEC. Together with NEC we will further strengthen the Linux market."
Under the agreement, NEC will provide first level support to its Linux customers and TurboLinux will provide backend support for NEC computer hardware systems such as the Express Server 5800 series. The support agreement covers all of NEC's computer hardware products that run Linux. NEC will have access to TurboLinux engineers as well as the most comprehensive Linux support database in Asia for bug fixes, troubleshooting and security information. The two companies will also work together on co-marketing, sales and application software development programs to promote Linux in Japan.
