3Dfx "Napalm" to Surpass 1 Billion Pixel Fill-Rate
According to Maximum PC Magazine, the next 3Dfx video card, codenamed "Napalm", will break the 1 billion pixel-per-second fill-rate mark as well as pumping 60 FPS in 32-bit color. As seen by this move, 3Dfx and nVidia have a difference of opinion of where to go with the 3D graphics market. As usual 3Dfx is going after bigger and faster while nVidia continues to expand the market with new technologies that plan to add transform and lighting acceleration to cards while turning up fill rates just a notch.
