The Slackware Changelogs have now labeled Slackware-Current as a pre beta of 7.0.0.
Slackware 7 features the same popular Slackware system, plus a more modern glibc2, which means faster applications than previous libc5-based Slackware 4. Several enhancements including (but not limited to) security, pcmcia support, speed, installation, network configuration, and many bugfixes have been done. All packages have been upgraded to their latest versions. A full install of Slackware 7 includes both the KDE and GNOME desktops, and full support for 3dfx hardware acceleration. At the rate of Slackware's development, expect Slackware 7-stable to be announced very soon.
