The GNU Project is now accepting nominations for the Free Software Award, and the deadline is October 8th.

The Free Software Award recognizes people who have made great contributions toward the progress and development of free software. Past winners of this award include Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds, and Larry Wall.

The winner of the award doesn't have to be a hacker or a programming genius. Contributions could include writing articles, writing documentation, publishing CD-ROMs, maintaining a website, or even journalism, as long as it supports the Free Software Movement.

To nominate someone for this award, send an email to award-nominations@gnu.org with the name of the nominee as the subject and a 40 line explanation as to why you think this person is worthy of consideration.
